Catching Up Continues....Easter 2011

The kids were coming for Easter this year and I wanted the yard to be all groomed and pretty by the time they got here so I had just worked and worked the week before to make sure everything was done. Well I have to say that I had it all looking really nice and lo and behold we had a high wind storm blow in and messed it all up. I was outside trying to gather up outdoor furniture cushions and get things put up when all of a sudden I see the barn flying through the air. Thank goodness for the fence and the water trough that it caught on and landed on upside down. Plywood went flying everywhere. That was kind of scary and I decided I better get inside of the house till the storm was over. We still have not replaced the metal on the barn yet. I think Donald said he was waiting to have a barn skinning party with his son in laws! We will see. Ha!

Well, the kids trickled in each family one by one and I think they all finally made it in by midnight Saturday. It seems they have problems with their suitcases showing up with them sometimes...but they were all here and that's what counts. We enjoyed our time together, eating, hunting Easter eggs, swinging, riding horses, riding the Ranger and just enjoying the outdoors. Of course everyone had to take turns and love on the new addition to our family,(Leighton).

It is so much fun to have everyone here at the house and we always enjoy the outdoors too. The little ones love playing together and roaming around out in the open and making many trips to the barn. The horses really like it when the grandkids are here because they want to feed them over and over again. Seems like the kiddos just don't make it home very often anymore except for just a special occasion. I guess every one's lives are just to busy and they all say it is easier for Donald and I to just pick up and go. "Hum",so we do.

Needless to say, everyone got off Sunday afternoon and had to fight tornadoes going home. It was just a weekend of crazy weather but everyone made it home safe and sound .

We love you all and thanks for making the effort to all be home together for our year at Easter. We sure did enjoy having you all here. :)

I'M A Whole Bunch Behind...So Here Goes

To start out the spring we did a few things with the grand kids. We visited with Kim and Cooper one weekend when Scott had to be out of town and enjoyed a visit to the Dallas zoo. I think Cooper liked it all except for the very large snake. He just shivered! Morgan played softball this year so we tried to make a few of her games. She really improved during the season and was given the "Most Improved Award" at the end of the season. With the arrival of Miss Leighton, we were sure to drop in on her when we attended the games and sometimes they were able to come and watch too. Kennedy was a trooper and big supporter for her sister at each game. I would have to say I have never seen her as dirty as she would get under those bleachers. All and all, those little ones are keeping us busy. I guess that is why I am so far behind on posting my blog. Well, here is the start and I will try to post more on Easter, birthdays and vacation this week (hopefully).

A Little More On Leighton

Just a few more pictures of Leighton's birth and of baby and mommy's hospital stay. A few visitors and some very curious little cousins looking in on the situation. The trip home from the hospital and finally being home all safe and sound.

Leighton Grace Phillips Arrives

Grandbaby number four arrived on March 10, 2011 at 5:09 p.m. Miss Leighton Grace Phillips weighed in at 6 lbs. 7 ounces and was 18.25 inches long. She is beautiful and perfect and will be a blessing to us all. She is such an answered prayer for Ashley and Jordan and we are all so thankful for her safe arrival. It took a little longer for her to be born that day than we all expected but her poor mom had to have three epidurals before they finally got one to work so they kept having to slow things down so the pain could be kept under control.

There were lots of love ones there that day to welcome Leighton into this world. Once again we are all so thankful for her birth and look forward to watching her grow up and just loving her to pieces. Love you so much Leighton!!

Baby Shower for Ashley & Leighton

Ashley had a great baby shower and the weather cooperated so that everyone was able to get there and back home before the next winter weather hit. As you can see in the pictures Ashley had lots of little helpers with her gifts. I believe she got everything she needed plus some. Thanks to all that made the trip and to all the ladies that gave the shower.
